Fort Myer South Post - Street Scenes from Gary Michalak
Fort Belvoir

GARY MICHALAK: Gary was stationed at Fort Myer South Post from January 1966 through September 1967, and was assigned to the Director of Army Budget in The Pentagon. His specific duty was with the Subcommittee on Defense of the House Appropriations in the Capital, and he is still involved with that in the Geneva, Switzerland office as a civilian.

JIM NEWBERRY, who was also stationed at South Post in the late 60's, pulled two of the following for inclusion on his Fort Myer South Post on Facebook, which contains about 20 other photos as well.

Barracks 515 (foreground), 517 and 519, looking north towards the Rec Center. The post gas station is to the left and the Headquarters Company Orderly Room is behind the photographer.

A great shot of the Headquarters Company Orderly Room (building on left), looking south. The two structures across the street were newer WAC barracks and the mess hall is out of site to the left. The Pentagon is hidden by all the structures.

Gary's friend Jake ____, in front of Barracks 515. Can anyone ID him?? Gary attempts a snooze inside Barracks 515 - the rooms were spartan, even considering they had just been condemned for the expansion of Arlington Cemetery.
