Fort Myer South Post - Pam Barry Benson Family Photos
Fort Belvoir

My name is Pam (Barry) Benson and I lived on Ft. Myer (South Post) with my family from June 1960 until June 1963. My Dad is Donald Barry and he was in the Army assigned to Arlington Hall Station during this time. My Mom is Margaret Barry and my brother and sister are Steve Barry and Beth (Barry) Kelly. We lived in the 9th section of Georgia Hall on N. Arlington Ridge Road. We hope you enjoy our photos. Some are taken inside Georgia Hall. Some are directly outside the entrance to Georgia Hall, and one picture (image is reversed) is outside of Kansas Hall, where our friends lived. My Dad's 1959 Chevy Impala is in that picture, plus another one outside of Kansas Hall. My sister and brother remember the Green Room, the movie theater, PX, gym, baseball field, post office, and barber shop. And we all remember the playground! I also remember how loud jets sounded in the stairwell. But nobody else remembers this. My sister remembers that the ice cream truck wasn't allowed on post and the kids all ran out to meet the truck.

We also lived on S. Hayes Street in Arlington from 1966 to 1968 and Daddy was assigned to Ft. McNair. He retired from the Army on February 29, 1968 and we moved to south Alexandria near Ft. Belvoir. If anyone wants to contact any of us, please send me an email at nosneb01@hotmail.com
